So it’s been eight months since our last post…and I am totally kicking myself in the butt for going MIA for SO LONG. Lots of things have been going on though and, due to those things, there just hasn’t been any free time. I’ve been going to school full time, working part time and running back to Myrtle Beach to visit galleries and talk about the different things I’ve been doing. Alexis has been going to full part time and working full time and if it wasn’t for her I’d probably be sitting in the dark right now because I forgot to pay the utilities. But anywho, we’ve been working on some new stuff and before I post it on Etsy I figured I’d give a sneak peak right here on our good ol’ blog.
This is a Buddha stecil that we’ve had stashed away for a while now. I only used it once and it was a completely different effect (cranberry paint on a tie dye shirt) but I cannot tell you how much I love this hoodie. Aside from it being super soft and comfy, the metallic paint really shows itself off on this color. It is absolutely buddha-ful!
And this lovely little number used one of Alexis’ pride and joy stencils- the thumbprint. She seriously spent hours cutting that baby out and it shows with every clean curve and even space. I stenciled the print off center on the shirt and then overlapped it with a quote by Mr. Bob Marley, “You have to be someone,” which I think is a thought that most of us often overlook. Don’t just live your life trying to make something of yourself but rather spend it being someone wonderful. Whether you be someone people rely on, someone who is selfless, or simply someone who smiles at strangers- remember that you have to BE someone, no matter who that somone is.
And at that, I’m off to plan some new designs and finish up some old ones. Class bright and early in the a.m. I’ll be making a point of not waiting so long to write again!

Leggings are the pants of the revolution. You see them everywhere from celebrities to your best friend’s sister, and I am happy to say that they have earned their way into your Spring 2010 wardrobe. If you’ve watched any of the runway shows lately or browsed through Style.com lately I’m sure you’ve seen all of the awesome denim. Not only is denim hitting the runways with tops and jeans, but it’s strutting it’s stuff with leggings! Though denim leggings have been around for some time now, they are finally getting the recognition they deserve!
Usually I talk about a trend then show you lovely photos of creations from Etsy.com, but today I wanted to do things a little different. I know that everyone wants to rush out and buy all kinds of denim now, but I’m going to show you how you can use the leggings you already have and pair them with some great denim tops. I made a quick little collage on Polyvore.com showing how to use the now popular printed leggings with the Spring 2010 denim tops. As you can see in my collage above, I chose all of the must-have’s for Spring 2010 to go along with the leggings and denim tops: chunky bangles, long necklaces, fedora hats, wedges and feminine colors. If you love something I put in my collage, you can click on the image and it will tell you where to find the item, how much it will cost you and all the other deets you need to know!

I also chose 5 pairs of leggings from Etsy just in case you love this style and don’t have a pair of print leggings yet. I chose these 5 pairs because they are super versatile yet really fun. Blackmarketbaby’s leggings could be dressed up or down and worn in so many different ways it’s mind boggling. NENEE’s leggings are super cool and I can see them paired with a cute summer dress or a loose fitting tunic top as they show on their listing. CASTCOUTURE’s leggings are just so fun in their bubble like print and would definitely go great with plain white adorned with big chunky jewelry or a sweet nautical top. And I cannot tell you how in love I am with Blim’s tie dye leggings! They’d go great with Spring’s boho chic look I can definitely see some jean cutoffs being worn over them, and if you visit Blim’s shop–there are more! Finally, zozatron’s leggings are just plain awesome. You’d definitely be the talk of the party wearing these babies. I’d wear them with a bright colored blazer, some fun wedges and ridiculous door-knocker earrings.
Next time I’ll be talking about either maxi dresses or trench coats. Haven’t fully decided but I promise it will be totally fabulous.
Okay so has anyone else heard all of the hype about Dior’s new Gypsy Bag? At a whopping $1,950 it’s very pricey, yet for some reason I’ve been trying desperately to convince myself of why I need one and who I can get to loan me the money. (Not really, but I’m getting to that point) Ruffles are a must have for spring fashion and you’ll be seeing them all through the summer as well on bags, dresses, shirts, you name it.
Despite my longing, I decided to do some investigation and see if I could find a cheaper alternative that is more in my (and 99% of the world) price range. When I think of shopping, the first thing that comes to mind is—ETSY! However, first I did some searching around the web and found a really cool site called Fab Sugar. Fabsugar.com did a review of the bag and suggested this awesome bag from Urban Outfitters instead for a serious discount from the almost two grand tag on the Dior bag. I was satisfied with this alternative and very excited—until I found all of these.

I am never surprised with the amount of talented artists on Etsy, but come on—did you have to do this to me? I mean how many ruffled bags can a girl have? I know that I usually commit to 6 Etsy sellers max for my posts but I just got so damn excited about all of these ruffles! So there you have it, you get nine. If you haven’t seen any of these shops before, I strongly suggest you do so because they have some really great stuff!
And just in case you’re like me and think you can make everything you see yourself, I have a tutorial that I found on Mama Lusco Handmade’s blog showing you step by step how to make your own ruffled bag!
I’ll be doing this as much as I can and I’ve got two posts in the workings on Maxi Dresses and Leggings. How exciting, right? If there is a trend that you’d like to see for less, please comment and let me know and I’ll do the best I can! Thanks

I’ve been working on my Anthropologie inspired necklace tutorial and I’ve finally collected all supplies needed and am ready to get going with it and show you the world how to make their own Flutter-By Necklace. I’m also working on a tutorial for Anthropologie’s Beginning Shoots Tote, because I think that $638 is a bit steep for a cotton and thread bag, eh? In the meantime, I’ve found these great tutorials on how to make some other Anthro Inspired necklaces and I just thought I’d share them in a little happy compilation.

Two are from blogger Mrs. Priss. The first tutorial I found of her’s was inspired by the Bonheur Necklace, which by the way is no longer available (aka you just have to make one yourself). It is available right here.

The second tutorial, also from Mrs. Priss, is inspired by the Ranuncula Necklace. This necklace is also no longer available! Thank goodness someone made a tutorial so we can make them forever and this lovely necklace won’t be forgotten! Anywho, the tutorial is available on her blog here.
I also found tutorials from Happy Together, Tatertots and Jello, Dollar Store Crafts and The Sassy Crafter.

Happy Together made this great flower necklace tutorial using leis.

Tatertots and Jello (what a fantastic name!) wrote a tutorial on how to make Anthropologie’s Curls and Coils Necklace with awesome easy to follow photos for only $5!

Dollar Store Crafts bib necklace tutorial costs only a couple dollars to make and most of the stuff you’ve already got at home in your craft stash!

And finally, The Sassy Crafter wrote a tutorial on how to make another, you guessed it, Anthropologie inspired necklace. And she says you can make this one in only 5 minutes! Whoa!
I hope these tutorials inspire you and I can’t wait to finish up my own Anthro Inspired necklace tutorial!
Enjoy!

Women have been adorning their hair with ornaments of all types since we lived in caves and yet it is one of those trends that never seem to go out of style. This season we are seeing Lady GaGa-esque big bows made of vinyl and tulle. One great designer that really showed off these great big bows on the runway was Luella. The pastel and fluorescent colors of spring are showcased in these larger than life creations for your head!
I’ve chosen 6 looks from different Etsy sellers that would be great this spring and are definitely more affordable than the bows offered from Luella, Marc Jacobs and the like. One of these bows would go great with a pair of men’s trousers and a frilly top, like we talked about last week! These headbands are priced reasonably, ranging from $9-$68.

Thanks for reading! Be sure to come back soon because I’m working on some tutorials to make your own headbands as well as a tutorial for an Anthropology style bag!
